Witte Musuem

I decided to do more with my children. That was one of the reasons we decided to homeschool. Well, I haven't been great, or even good about it. I always have made an excuse...time, money, gas, disobedient children. Well, enough is enough. There will alway be excuse NOT to do something. That said, I now have "something" planned every month. This was the first month of planning. We went to the Witte Musuem in San Antonio. The musuem is having an Leonardo Di Vinci hands on exhibit. They (we) all learned alot. They were able to build bridges, test out a catapult, learn about early batteries...yes battery, water pumps,a cannon...Leonardo even came up with the portable multi gun...now known as a tank! That man was a genius! The exhibit let us touch and see "how" and "why" it works. They also have a three story science tree house. In the science house they learned about pullies, were able to produce a weather/news cast, downstairs, they washed their hands, and then "saw" what was left...gross! They have a real mummy in glass. You can build a wall with hyroglyphics and see if it can survive an earthquake. All this and more. It was a perfect place to take kids. Not alot of "just look, don't touch." The best part...w/a group of 10 or more children...only $4! That includes the Di Vinci exhibit. I didn't get great pictures because I don't know how to turn off my flash.

sad cake

Joshua's birthday was in July, I am so unclever sometimes. This time, I made brownies..from scratch. (I had no idea it was that easy!). My poor children have some of the worse looking cakes around. To make this worse, I was short one candle so we used a match. I really need to work on this! I have it in my head, that I cannot "buy" a birthday cake. I don't know where it came from. But when I decide something I have a hard time changing my mind. Probably because I change my mind constantly, so when a decision is made, it is monumental for me. With that said, look at Katie's cakes... Josh and Brandon still talk about the few cakes Katie made for them. I could/will post some of the horrible one I've made. It's worth a good pitiful laugh. Unfortunatly, the good ones were before I had a digital camera. So I don't know how to post Katie's photo, but here is her link http://www.wkwilliams.blogspot.com/

It...Raining...It's Pouring...

It has been soooo long since we had any decent rain, the kids were overly excited to see it. Brandon grabbed his hammock and Joshua and Brianna grabbed the blankets...since it was "cold." Well, it did get all the way down to 80!! Though it was short lived. The humidity out ways the temperature. It still doesn't feel good. Checkers, Brandon's dog, couldn't handle seeing it, so he joined in, also. He ran and jumped up on the hammock. It is so funny.
I was excited about the rain for the ground. You can see my sad, sad grass. I laid sod in early June, and it just doesn't like this heat! I've watered so much, my water bill has more than doubled.

ADD?!?!

As I was talking to Ron about a family friend, Brandon overheard me saying he had to have ADD. So Puzzled, he asked what that was. After telling him, he said "So he has a problem if he doesn't get all of the attention?"...Priceless!
